Yea... Actually there was an end to the never ending story... I was lucky enough to be able to verify the timing on the truck without taking anything much apart... I will be having a lengthy conversation with Dodge regarding their diesel expert... The problem was in fact the overflow valve... Why it wasn't a brand new valve on the re-built injection pump I don't know, but I'll be having a word with the pump shop too...
