Computers

Right... So every computer manufacturer seems to be racing as fast as humanly possible to eliminate the floppy drive from existence... They serve no viable use at this point most of them say...

Right... So I buy a shiny new server for the company... I want RAID 1 on it, so I make damn sure there's a RAID controller on board because XP doesn't really support setting up a RAID 1... Stupid, but true...

Right... So throw in the drives, fire up the box, set the RAID up, and wait for Windows to install...

Wrong...

Ok, so I need to give windows a new driver to handle my RAID chip... Guess where my only option to install the driver is... Yea... The goddamn floppy drive that doesn't exist because it's obsolete... I swear, I may actually have to install a floppy in to my server just to be able to install Windows XP... I don't think it will let me sneak the driver in on a USB, and I can't pull the CD out to use that... How insane is this...

Ok, if I bought Windows Server, this wouldn't be an issue as I could do the dynamic disk deal and mirror them that way. I don't need Windows Server though... This is just a file dump... I've already got one box running like this, and my only reason to change that is that the old machine can't handle the big drives living in it... It only sees 8 of the 250 gig there... Yea... No floppy in that machine either to cure that issue...

Ain't technology grand...
